Principal’s Message

Welcome to Montecito!  We are proud to be a school that values and promotes kindness and connectedness.  We work hard for everyone to feel safe, seen, heard, supported, significant and cared for…in other words, for our students, staff and parents to all feel connected to the Montecito community!

At Montecito, we have a diverse population of approximately 260 students.  Our staff is committed to working together to help each child learn and grow socially, emotionally and academically both in and out of the classroom.  We offer a variety of curricular and extra-curricular programs.  Students have many opportunities to participate on athletic teams, develop and show their talent in music and dance, celebrate their learning and accomplishments during our monthly Celebration of Learning assemblies and participate in a variety of clubs such as the knitting club and Odyssey of the Minds.  Students also have numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills through activities such as buddies, becoming morning announcers, running assemblies, joining patrol, as well as becoming classroom, hot lunch and office monitors.

Parents are partners in education and we value the time, effort and support of our parent community.  We have a very dedicated and committed PAC at Montecito and they sponsor numerous activities and events throughout the year.  We encourage you to become an active member of your child’s education by attending PAC meetings, volunteering in your child’s classroom, assisting on fieldtrips or helping to volunteer at PAC sponsored events.  We welcome you to view to observe the many opportunities to volunteer.

Our hope is that this website will help to inform you in addition to highlighting the many wonderful things happening at Montecito.  Please feel free to contact me at the school if you would like to share positive comments about our school, or to ask questions, share concerns or provide suggestions.  I am thrilled to be a part of the amazing team of students, parents and staff at Montecito School and look forward to getting to know you and working with you this year. Thanks for your partnership in your child’s education.

With gratitude,

Mrs. Heather Kimmie
